Make a Willow Basket in a Day
Experience the ancient craft of basket-making, for beginners and improvers alike
Description
ON THE DAY Join Louise Arthur for some wonderful willow weaving. During the all day workshop you will learn how to create the frame of these useful baskets, how to add ribs to form the bowl and learn how to rand or weave with thin flexible rods. All the willow is grown either in Hampshire or Somerset. Weeks in advance of the workshop the willow will be prepared by soaking and will be ready for your use. These charming rustic frame baskets help bring a bit our beautiful countryside into the home. TOOLS AND MATERIALS All tools and material are provided ADVISORY NOTE Basket-making requires strength and manual dexterity. If you have joint or wrist problems please seek advice from Louise before booking. WHAT TO BRING Please bring an apron if you can TAKE HOME Your own handmade willow basket made in a day. MORE ABOUT YOUR TUTOR A basket maker, Louise's beautiful constructions are both decorative and functional . She uses willow and also works with rush carefully sourcing her material . Cancellation Policy
We are keen to help anyone with an ailment or disability attend our creative workshops. If you have any concerns please contact us directly and we will discuss with you the appropriate actions we can take to help you. Training will be given, however participants must be aware that sharp tools may be used and you must take responsibility for your own safety. We are unable to offer refunds 28 days before the workshop starts unless another person is able to take the place. Contact us directly if you are no longer able to attend and we will endeavor to find someone else. In case of cancellation you will receive a refund or the opportunity to attend another workshop. While all measures are taken to ensure the safety of your belongings on the day, we are not liable for any loss or damage.
