About the event
Spend two days of meditative stitching with Aimée Alice Payton as you create a beautiful gathered lampshade. Aimée shares her knowledge and helps you achieve a professional finish to your lampshade.
On the day
- You will choose and prepare a suitable frame for this technique
- Create gathers with traditional techniques
- Make a balloon lining
- Finish your shade with a handstitched bias edge
- All materials are included.
- Handstitched shades can be fiddly and hard on your hands. Please consider this if you have any issues with your hands and wrists.
Your ideas
Please feel free to discuss with me any specific ideas in advance and I can let you know if they are feasible. I am happy to advise on fabrics as well.

About your tutor:
Aimée is a lampshade maker and upholsterer. She creates bespoke and unique statement lighting and furniture. With a background in textile research she brings her knowledge and love of fabric to her joyful work. Aimée shares her tips and tricks to make professional lampshades in a fun and relaxed workshop.
Lunch:
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
Lunch is an optional extra when you get to the online checkout at the cost of £12. A delicious salad, quiche and sweet snack will be provided fresh every day by fine food deli The Goring Grocer. Alternatively you are more than welcome to bring your own lunch.
Refunds:
We regret we cannot offer refunds during the 4 weeks before your workshop. We will endeavor to sell your space and if it is filled we will refund you at that point.
