About the event
Spend the day creating a beautiful eco-friendly basket with Louise Arthur from Rough Around the Hedges. Your basket can be used for storing and displaying items within the home or for gathering fruit, eggs, mushrooms and berries in the great outdoors. We will use UK grown sustainably coppiced willow.
You will learn how to:
lash a hooped handle and rim together
splice and insert ribs to form a frame,
weave with supple prepared willow and retain shape
What you’ll make:
A practical and unique hand basket to use for years to come

About your tutor:
Louise Arthur is a basketmaker and teacher based in Hampshire, England, trading under the name Rough Around the Hedges. She combines contemporary design and heritage skills with her passion for the environment. Her baskets are hand woven from sustainably grown British willow and often incorporate hedgerow plants, foraged fibres and coppiced wood. Welcome to her life on the hedge, weaving people and nature together.
Lunch:
Tea, coffee and biscuits are provided.
Lunch is an optional extra when you get to the online checkout at the cost of £12. A delicious salad, quiche and sweet snack will be provided fresh every day by fine food deli The Goring Grocer. Alternatively you are more than welcome to bring your own lunch.
Refunds:
We regret we cannot offer refunds during the 4 weeks before your workshop. We will endeavor to sell your space and if it is filled we will refund you at that point.
