18th July 10am - 4.30pm If you have always wanted to learn how to make your own silver jewellery or improve and develop your existing silversmithing skills, this workshop is the perfect one for you. On this one-day workshop with jeweller Charlotte Berry, you will learn how to make a beautiful sterling silver ring set with a gemstone of your choice. During the workshop you will learn a variety of traditional jewellery making techniques including ring sizing, piercing (sawing), soldering, texturing, shaping, polishing and stone setting. Using these processes you will create a unique stone set ring from start to finish that you can wear home at the end of the day. The day starts with choosing your cabochon gemstone from a selection of colours, shapes and sizes. During the morning you will be making a ring band, using sterling silver and a bezel for your chosen stone; learning how to size a ring, shape the metal and solder together. After lunch you will solder the setting and the ring together and clean up the ring ready for polishing and finally, setting the stone. You will be working with sterling silver in a variety of wire and sheet, as well as with a selection of beautiful semi-precious cabochon gemstones. Charlotte brings expert tuition, and personalised guidance throughout the day. TAKE HOME Your handmade finished gemstone silver ring, fitting perfectly on your finger.
