Katie is a knitwear designer maker and farmer based at Great Cotmarsh Farm, Wiltshire. The farm produces lamb and beef in a 100% pastoral system and is managed for soil health, nature recovery and agroforestry. She creates award-winning knitwear under the brand ‘Katie Cotmarsh’ using the fleeces from her flock of rare native breed sheep and cultivates her own colour by growing plant dyes.

Her journey with wool started though a desire to claim value in her wool clip and reconnect us all to the story behind our clothing. However, the more she learnt about the environmental and social tragedies occurring along the fashion supply chain, the more important it became for her knitwear to stand for a new way of producing clothes.

Her knitwear tells the story of how textiles can be produced in harmony with the rhythms of nature. It connects customers to the rituals of making and heals the disconnect with the reality that so much of what we use and take for granted, comes from the land.
